【NEW】Welcome to the world. How does THC-O work?

Weed

THC-O is the newest cannabis discovery that hasn’t gained a boatload of press until recently.

Perhaps that’s because this mysterious THC analog is not readily available, and for you to understand it truly, you’d have to dig into some pretty fuzzy research.

But now, this strong compound is surfacing from the murky edges as a tremendously potent and effective choice with an unparalleled recreational value and an amazing medicinal profile.

Let’s dive deep into everything you need to know about THC-O; what it is, how it works on your body, and the best THC-O products to try right now.

What is THC-O?

Delta 8 THC-O Acetate is commonly referred to as THC-O. It is also abbreviated as THC Acetate or ATHC.

THC-O is a cannabinoid that’s likely found in the cannabis plant in almost negligible amounts. However, there are no reference standards established to test the compound and prove that it naturally exists in cannabis plants.

What is clear is that THC-O is the acetylated version of delta 9 THC. It is an ‘unnatural cannabinoid’ that is produced in the laboratory.

THC-O is synthetically obtained from THCA (the inactive form of delta 9 THC) through a volatile process that clears out all other necessary compounds like terpenes and flavonoids, leaving behind a tasteless, odorless, and extremely potent THC isolate.

Its effects take longer to kick in (10-20 or more minutes), but once they do, THC-O is reported to be 3 times stronger and 300% more potent than THC. Consumers also say that it delivers a highly spiritual and psychedelic sensation that isn’t found in the common cannabinoids.

How does THC-O work on the body?

Reports show that THC-O is 300% times as psychoactive as THC, making it 2-3 times more potent. Just like all other cannabinoids are fat-soluble, ATHC is also a lipid, and it takes time to be metabolized in the body.

Note that ATHC/THC-O is a prodrug. It remains inactive and cannot deliver any effects until after it is first metabolized in the liver. During metabolism, the liver ‘deacetylates’ THC-O and concerts it into  delta 9 THC.

“So, how then is it stronger than THC?

Theoretically speaking, the potency of THC-O boils down to its bioavailability. Once THC is acetylated to THC-O, its bioavailability is essentially increased way more than that in the regular THC. When metabolized, the extra group(-O) is eliminated, but the potency of the compound is still significantly high.

Once the THC-O molecules are absorbed into the bloodstream and brain, they stimulate the cannabinoid receptors uniquely compared to other cannabinoids, hence delivering effects that can easily blow you away.

However, you’ll want to be more careful around this new kid on the block. Scientific research into its potency is still very young in its infancy.

Until now, it’s accurate to say that the relationship between THC-O and our endocannabinoid system is a bit like the wild wild west of cannabis culture.

What are the effects of THC-O?

The medicinal effects of THC-O are relatively similar to those of other THC forms. It’s been touted as an anti-nausea with potency to alleviate anxiety and stress while enhancing appetite.

Users have also reported a hard-hitting high, accompanied by a spiritual, and visual experience that can last up to hours. Once you smoke or vape THC-O, it’ll deliver its first wave of effects in at least 10 minutes, and the peak will be felt after just about 20 minutes.

First-time users are advised against trying THC-O as it provides a psychedelic experience closely similar to that of shrooms. The strong body buzz and intense mental experience can easily knock you out.

But the euphoria, enhanced spirits, and increased creativity are a definite upside.

The best THC-O products on the market right now

research-of-thco-fifth

THC-O is available in numerous forms. But it’s still a very new product on the market, and its safety remains unknown.

However, there’s no data to show that it’s unsafe for use either. Consumers are advised to stick to THC-O gummies and tinctures.

Gummies

THC-O is infused in sweetened fruity gummies with a palatable flavor. THC-O gummies are quite easy to use, measure your dosage, and they are relatively safe.

Tinctures

Tinctures are a safe way of consuming THC-O, and they deliver its effects much faster. THC-O tinctures are a good way to save your lungs the risk that comes with vaping or smoking cannabis.

Distillates

They are quite difficult to find on the market right now. Because of their thick texture and oily nature, THC-O distillates can be quite difficult to handle.

Vape Cartridges

You’re advised to keep off THC-O vapes until the potential risks of vaping the compound are examined thoroughly.

Many thanks

That’s it for this time. Thank you for reading.
